MYTHS AND MIRRORS COMMUNITY ARTS FUNDRAISER. SATURDAY JAN 21st @ THE TOWNEHOUSE

Myths and Mirrors Community Arts is holding a fundraiser at the Townehouse on January 21st.  The evening will begin at 11 pm with the beautifully seductive sounds of Laura Willett followed by a little bit roots rock and little funky rock and roll from Digital Bender.  The evening will conclude with the newly formed multi-instrumental band, Spine Candy, which plays a wide variety of groovy, dancing tunes, some covers and some original.  $5 at the door!

There will be Myths and Mirrors’ merchandise available for purchase; t-shirts, cards, buttons, calendars and raffle draws!!  Come have a wonderfully rockin’ time while showing your support for a vitally valuable non-profit multi-media arts organization.  Myths and Mirrors has been working to build a united community within Sudbury by infusing artistic empowerment into the fabric of our northern culture since 1996.

OCCUPY SUDBURY WORKSHOPS: Sunday November 27th 11am – 4 pm

Victory Park, 496 Frood Road

11 am-1 pm: Join us as we learn about the Seven Grandfather Teachings through the guidance of Winnie Pitawanakwat, Aboriginal Elder. This workshop will also include the Medicine Wheel Teachings. Suggested donation: $5

1 pm- 2pm: Pot Luck Lunch, please bring a dish to share for lunch.

2pm – 4pm: “OCCUPY” LAWN (or window) SIGN WORKSHOP

Led by Myths and Mirrors Community Arts we will make signs in the tradition of political lawn or window signs, however, our signs will be personalized, artistic and have messages which best suit our particular interests in this occupy movement.

We will have a list of options for messages as well as brainstorm possible messages for our signs.

With paint and found materials we will create our signs to place around our homes in solidarity with those who desire and are working toward a different world.

Please bring donations of exterior and interior paint, exterior varnish, scrap wood or metal and anything else you or others might like to add to the signs. We have the tools to cut, paint and build our signs. If you don’t have any supplies that is fine, we will provide what we can. In the spirit of the occupy movement, we will make due with what is at hand! Monetary donations are welcome as well.

We invite you to come to our Tuesday evening Pot Luck M&M festival planning meeting from 5:30-8pm at 496 Frood Road, Victory Park.  If you need transportation please call Sarah at 705-507-2340

Here is a short agenda for this week’s meeting:  (Minutes from the last 2 meetings are attached)

Circle in.

Explanation of Festival concept for those who are new!

Review of chosen Festival projects.

Plan of attack:  Dates for project workshops, identifying additional people to work on them, list of needed resources to get going.

Brain storming for the Name of Festival:  In order to promote the festival properly we need a proper name.  “Myths and Mirrors’ 15th Anniversary Restrospective Arts Exhibit and Festival” is just too cumbersome.  If you cannot make the meeting please send in ideas beforehand so we can add them to the list!

Circle out.

Please review the list of chosen projects to see if there is any one (or two) you would love to participate in!  Looking forward to seeing you and getting these wonderful projects going!!

Please note any level of commitment is welcome!!!  We will be updating and you can jump in at anytime!
